Mayan Palace Vallarta

Welcome to a vacationer’s paradise.

Nice but not my favorite Mayan Palace

I bought at Mayan Palace Riveria Mayan several years ago. I have always loved that property and never visited another Mayan Palace. I decided to explore new properties and went to Puerto Vallarta on June 18, 2007.

I was a little disappointed because it wasn’t what I expected. This property is more like a regular hotel on the beach. When you are on your balcony, you are looking at other hotels directly besides you. The property itself is very small and I wasn’t expecting that. There is only one big pool and no fancy huts with beds to lay on.

Don’t get me wrong, it was still nice because the people were friendly, the one pool itself was nice and the beach is always relaxing.

I was a little sad that my room didn’t have a bathtub though. I love to relax in the tub after a day out on the beach. There was only a standup shower. The beds were also very hard so be prepared for that.

Coming from the Riveria Maya (huge pools, cozy beds, so much ground space that you walk have to walk miles before you even see another hotel!), I wasn’t happy I choose Puerto Vallarta instead of going back to RMaya.

If you don’t know any different though, this was a decent place. The food was good, the service was fine and the town is VERY close. We took a taxi into town and walked around during the day and night. I felt safe and sometimes like I was in the USA. They have an Outback Steakhouse, Hooters, Starbucks and all sorts of other familiar places in the town.

I probably won’t go back to Puerto Vallarta regardless of what hotel I was at b/c I like a more relaxing vacation. I felt like I was in a regular hotel in a big city.

I like to feel like I am “getting away” from the world. I prefer a resort that I can go to and disapper from everything. I didn’t get that feeling at this resort and it probably wouldn’t have mattered what hotel I was staying at to be honest.

All the hotels are surrounded by one another and it is a busy city. Hope this helps and I would be happy to answer any questions!
