Mayan Palace is disappointing waste of RCI trade

We used our timeshare and traded to the Mayan Palace for two weeks–big mistake. The grounds are beautiful, but the rooms are glorified Motel 6 rooms. I own at a beautiful resort (Vistana, FL) and to trade to something so low on the scale was a great disappopintment. Upon seeing the rooms we went right back to the front desk to ask for a transfer to the Grand Mayan. They were not able to accomodate us for the first week, but they could for the second week of our vacation. The Mayan Palace is supposed to be a “Gold Crown”–top of the line for resorts but it is sorely lacking. I do not recommend the Mayan Palace if you are used to staying in nice resorts–the grounds are nice, but not the “hotel-like” accomodations. Staff was nice. Would never go there again.
