Mayan Palace Vallarta

Welcome to a vacationer’s paradise.

Great Relaxing Honeymoon Resort

Our Honeymoon was amazing at the Mayan Palace Resort. We stayed for a week and wanted to stay longer! The pool and the activites there were great. The Resort is fantastic and clean. It wasn’t as expensive to eat at the pool as I had previously heard. Charging stuff to the room is a plus! We ate at the resort a few time. The chicken tacos and the nachos are pretty amazing. The staff is sooo friendly.

We did our research before we went here and knew about the timeshare. We were too young looking to really get bombarded by the timeshare people, but all you have to say is that you already went or that you are not interested. They usually back off.

Tip: Don’t take taxis everywhere if you want to save a few dollars. The bus is only 50 cents and it goes from the Marina into downtown. You can take it as far as you want. You can get on and get off anywhere just ring the bell located overhead. Just flag the bus down that says Marina if you want to go back to the hotel. The bus goes through the Marina every 5 mins or so. You will get a ticket when you get on the bus and we found out after a while that it means nothing. Just a way to track rides. If you DO take a taxi somewhere ask the bellboys how much it should cost to take you where you want to go. They try to charge you extra sometimes. At the most it should cost you $6 to get to somewhere in Old Town. We took taxi’s to dinner so we wouldn’t be wandering around. Barcelona Tapas and Pipi’s were great touristy places to go. Barcelona Tapas was by far the best meal we had there, but for something more casual go to Victor’s in the Marina. Victor is great. He serves you and gives you shots of tequila. The sweetest man ever! Go late night for a drink and have the fish tacos or chicken tacos. The food was so good we went twice.
We went to the flea market on tuesday and thursday and by far Thursday was the best. A very slow day. Learn how to talk them down! Stick it out and you will get what you want on a slow day. After the flea market go to Cafe Roma for a cold beer and thin crust pizza. It is located outside of the market. You can’t miss it.

We did a couples massage at the resort and it included a bottle of champagne. Let me tell you that was one of the best things we did at the resort. It was so relaxing and we sat and drank champagne in the chill out lounge for hours. Don’t miss the chill out lounge. It is one of the best features of the resort!

The internet was pretty cheap at the resort, but there are a ton of places in town where you can go online for free if you don’t want to spend $3 for a half hour. I used my 1/2 hour over 3 days and had plenty of time for catching up.

We went to Bakal for the first morning for breakfast and it was pretty good. Don’t forget that there is a whole Marina that is across the street! We didn’t discover this for a few days and were kind of bummed we didn’t get to explore it more.

Go on the Jungle Treks ATV Tour and ask for Tony. We booked this through the hotel. Tito hooked it up for us and we were not disappointed. The other couples we met went through Vallarta Adventures and didn’t have as much fun. We did a sailing tour through Vallarta adventures and it was pretty fun.

Don’t fret about the timeshare stuff. It really doesn’t seem that bad. PV is amazing and the resort is even more fantastic than I ever could have imagined.
