I read the other trip advisor reviews before we checked in to our RCI exchange week and I kept my expectations reasonably in tact. The check- in was extremely efficient and the front desk people were more than hospitable. The rooms were extremely clean upon arrival and the view was amazing. I agree with the previous guests in that the balconys in the main building were really nice. They had a great view and chairs to sit and admire the view. The building closest to the ocean has rather non-useful balconies that really serve no function other to enjoy the view. Read the rest of this entry »

Mostly good

We have stayed at other Mayan Palace properties (Mazatlan and Riviera Maya) and decided to give Nuevo Vallarta a try based on other vacationers recommendations. Overall the place is nice. More walking than the Riviera Maya location, which isn’t necessarily bad. Poolside food was very good and good service. The Nuevo location does not add a mandatory gratuity on your bill, so you tip as you like and we generally overtipped but had excellent service. Read the rest of this entry »

Great experience

We stayed at the Mayan Place Nuevo Vallarta Valentines week 2007. What a great experience. There were 10 of us from 3 generations. We booked two of the 2 bedroom/2bathroom suites. Plenty of room. The kitchens and living area were enough to hold all 10 of us when we got together. I especially like the king size bed and listening to the music through the open sliding door at night. The music came from the open bar area behind the main desk. We had a golf course view room which suited us just fine as the palm trees blocked most of the ocean view from that side of the building anyway.

Our family visited the Mayan Palace Nuevo Vallarta for the kids March Break, March 10 - 17. We booked this trip as a timeshare exchange through RCI. This was our 3rd exchange experience with RCI and our first exchange outside of the U.S. We are owners at the Orange Lake Resort in Kissimmee FL. After reading mixed reviews on this board I was a little nervous, but we are fairly laid back travelers and that usually pays off by great vacation experiences. This was no exception. It was exactly what we were looking for in a March Break Trip with 2 kids. Our children are 11 and 13, so I was hoping for a family friendly resort with no wild spring breakers. Calm and Relaxing is exactly what the Mayan Palace offered.

We traveled as 3 couples to Mayan Palace, Nuevo Vallarta on Feb.28-March 03, 2007 Upon arrival “chaos” at the airport we quickly darted past all the sale/timeshare people and said no thank you not interested. We located a taxi stand very close to the exit and was able to secure a van for 6 folks and all our luggage.
The cost for 6 was approximately $35.00. We confused our driver because he thought we were traveling to the Mayan w/in 5 min from the airport. The one we stayed in was in Nuevo Vallarta is around 15 min. away.

We recently returned from a week in Puerto Vallarta (2/25-3/4). It was my wife and I and 3 other couples. We’ve been to Mexico 6 times now, and Puerto Vallarta 3 of those times (Mazatlan twice and Acapulco once) and we’re planning to take our 3 kids with us next year. Read the rest of this entry »

My husband and I have just returned from a week at the Mayan Palace. We loved this resort and had a wonderful vacation. Our timeshare room was a one bedroom suite facing the pool and ocean in the Yellow building. We were on the 4th floor. We loved being so close to the ocean and being able to hear the waves on the beach from our room, it was very soothing. We found the staff to be exceptionally friendly and helpful. The resort is beautiful and the restaurants were excellent.

My husband, myself and our 9 year old daughter stayed at the Mayan for from Feb 16 to the 23rd. We were anticipating a few problems from reading previous reviews, but we actually had none! We are timeshare owners through the Mayan group and so we exchanged our time to stay at the Mayan Palace this year. We took advantage of the free transportation offered from Mayan from the airport to the hotel and were pleasantly surprised with this as well. We arrived after 10pm and had absolutley no wait for check in. We were directed to go and get our wrist bands (although these are not necessary). We got our bands, got to our room, called the bell boys for our luggage and it was brought to the room in no more than 5 minutes.

Place was super clean!!! Rooms were immaculate! Beds & beddings were kept well, bathrooms were clean, there were enough towels, pillow & sheets/blankets for everyone! House keeping non-english speaking but very kind! Bell boys/bus boys also very friendly! People @ the front desk could be more attentive & maybe try not focusing so much on “timeshare” issues. But the other employees of the resort were super!!!!

We stayed at the Mayan Palace, Nuevo Vallarta mid-Feb 07. We checked in on a Friday, to a 1-bedroom suite. I would have rated it above average/excellent except for the hard beds and our no-view room :-(
