Mayan Palace Vallarta
Welcome to a vacationer’s paradise.
A Mediocre Mayan Palace
I’m a veteran of Mexican travel, and we are especially fond of Puerto Vallarta. Having never stayed at the marina, we decided to try the Mayan Palace and were very disappointed. The average customer is clearly not a priority there. Here are some examples.
1) We did not appreciate the packet of Viagra we found beneath the blanket at the foot of our bed. Yuck! When we voiced our displeasure about this at the front desk, the clerk said she would tell the maid, but she didn’t ask our room number.
2) The hotel booked a waterfront wedding for a Saturday. Hotel guests were denied the use of the wedding area for most of the day, but that annoyance was nothing compared to the screaming decibel level of the wedding band Saturday night. When we called the front desk at midnight to complain, we were told we could move to a different building if the noise bothered us, but they would not require the band to turn down the volume. Yeah. I really want to change rooms at midnight.
3) Beach towels were distributed at a booth and the towels had to be returned every day. Failure to do so would result in a charge of $30. But the staff was sloppy in keeping track of the towels, and one snapped at me “I don’t speak English” in good English when I tried to straighten out their inaccurate records.
There are too many gorgeous resorts in and around Puerto Vallarta for guests to have to tolerate this.
